William Tugman State Park offers the only public boat ramp on Eel Lake, making it an essential access point for paddlers and boaters in the area. The ADA-accessible ramp provides easy launch and landing for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. The park also features a swim beach and a fully-accessible fishing dock at the day-use area, where anglers frequently catch trout and bass. The peaceful, undeveloped setting makes it ideal for a family-friendly paddling experience on this quiet lake.
The park is conveniently located in Lakeside, Coos County, with several campgrounds within 10 miles for those planning overnight trips, including nearby Hauser Sand Camping, Umpqua Sand Camping, and Eel Creek Campground (all reservable). Before visiting, note that sand roads on the nearby North Spit are closed through December 2025 due to Army Corps of Engineers work in the area. This remains an excellent base for exploring Eel Lake and enjoying the Oregon coast region's recreational opportunities.
