About This Access Site
Willow Slough Fish and Wildlife Area offers two boat ramps located near the headquarters facility in Rossville, Carroll County. These ramps provide access to the extensive 1,200-acre Knop Lake system, which is surrounded by nearly 10,000 acres of diverse habitat including wetlands, marshes, oak barrens, and sandy hills. Kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding are permitted on the water body, making this a suitable launch point for paddlers seeking a large inland lake experience.

The area supports excellent wildlife viewing opportunities, with bald eagles, osprey, hawks, owls, and numerous waterfowl species commonly observed. Camping is available year-round on a first-come, first-served basis, with additional amenities including picnic areas, nature trails, and boat rentals. Note that swimming is not permitted in the water body. For current information on ramp conditions, hours of operation, and any access requirements, contact the facility at 219-285-2704.
