Winchester Lake 3 is an unimproved boat ramp providing year-round access to the Winchester Waterway in Grant County, Washington. Located off Dodson Road (approximately 3.5 miles from the I-90 exit), the site features a gravel parking lot and pit toilet facilities. This access point is ideal for kayakers and canoeists looking to explore the warm water fishing opportunities throughout the Desert Wildlife Recreation Area.
From this launch, paddlers have excellent distance options for day trips and longer adventures. The waterway allows for approximately 16 miles of paddling to a take-out at Road C, or paddlers can continue an additional 8 miles to reach a boat ramp at Potholes Reservoir State Park for a longer expedition. The system encompasses Winchester Reservoir, Winchester Wasteway, Frenchman Hills Wasteway, and numerous small ponds and marshes, making it well-suited for both fishing-focused outings and scenic paddling through diverse wetland habitat.
