About This Access Site
Located on the west side of Winnsboro Dam on CR 4890 (off Texas Highway 37, southwest of Winnsboro), this access point features a concrete boat ramp for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats into Lake Winnsboro. The site provides straightforward access to this 806-acre impoundment on Big Sandy Creek, a tributary of the Sabine River in Wood County.

Lake Winnsboro is a shallow reservoir with a maximum depth of 23 feet, making it suitable for recreational paddling and boating. The relatively calm, impounded waters offer an easier paddling experience compared to flowing creek conditions. Water levels can fluctuate seasonally due to the dam's flood-retardation function, so conditions may vary throughout the year. Paddlers should check current water levels before visiting and be aware that access conditions may be affected during periods of high water management.
