About This Access Site
Winter Harbor provides boat ramp access to the Dry Arm of Fort Peck Lake, a massive reservoir created by Fort Peck Dam—the largest embankment dam in the United States. This access point is ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters exploring one of Montana's premier water recreation areas. The concrete boat ramp accommodates various watercraft, making it suitable for both day trips and extended paddling adventures.

The site is located near Fort Peck in Valley County and benefits from nearby amenities, including West End Campground and the reservable West End Tent and Trailer Campground within 10 miles. The surrounding area offers excellent recreational opportunities across the sprawling Fort Peck Lake system. Note that other access roads in the region are primarily gravel or dirt, so Winter Harbor's developed ramp provides convenient, reliable access for launching.

**Planning Your Visit:** This is a good base for exploring the Dry Arm section of the lake. Paddlers should be prepared for large water conditions typical of a major reservoir and plan accordingly with proper safety equipment and weather awareness.
