Woody's on the Lake offers convenient public boat access on the west shore of Lavon Lake (East Fork Trinity River) near Wylie. The facility features two 4-lane boat ramps and a courtesy dock at the south ramp, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and larger motorboats. Note that while the park charges a $5 entrance fee for day-use areas, **access to the public boat ramps does not require payment**. The site includes hot showers and additional amenities for day users and campers.
**Getting There:** From Wylie, take Texas 78 east and turn north on County Road 389. The park entrance is located near the intersection of CR 389 and CR 384. The location provides easy access to Lavon Lake's calm, impounded waters—ideal for recreational paddling and boating.
Woody's is one of several launch options on the lake; Lakeland Boat Ramp (east shore, open seasonally April-September) and Bratonia Boat Ramp (Princeton area) offer additional alternatives. For paddlers seeking nature-based recreation, the nearby Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney features nature trails and exhibits worth exploring during a full day outing.
