Wrangell

The Wrangell boat ramp provides access to the Pacific Ocean and Zomovia Strait, near the town of Wrangell in southeast Alaska. This launch site is located within the Tongass National Forest, offering paddlers and boaters easy access to the rugged coastal waters of the region.

The boat ramp is a concrete single-lane design, with an associated moorage float to assist with launching and loading. Ample parking is available nearby, although it is designated for vehicle and trailer combos only. Transient boaters will likely need to use one of the marinas in the Wrangell harbor system, such as Heritage Harbor or the Downtown Harbor.

Wrangell is well-equipped to support recreational boating, with a range of harbor facilities including deep-water docks, seaplane floats, boat hoists, and marine repair services. Paddlers exploring this area should be prepared for the cold, wind, and swells common to the Alaskan coast, and be aware of the Wrangell Narrows - a winding, 22-mile channel with numerous navigation aids.
