About This Access Site
Yale Park provides day-use boat access to Yale Reservoir, a 1953-era dam impoundment on the North Fork Lewis River near Cougar. The facility offers a boat ramp for motorized and non-motorized watercraft, with parking for approximately 15 vehicles. **Important note:** Water levels on Yale Reservoir fluctuate significantly throughout the year due to dam operations, and the boat ramp periodically becomes unusable during low-water periods. Before visiting, check current conditions by calling PacifiCorp at 801-280-3233. Even when the ramp is closed due to low water, kayakers and canoeists can typically access the reservoir via shoreline portage.

The reservoir is popular for kokanee fishing and supports both motorized boating and paddling. Be prepared for variable water conditions and plan your visit accordingly. Yale Reservoir is located in a scenic mountainous area about 9 miles east of Cougar via State Route 503/Forest Road 90. For overnight camping options, Kalama Horse Camp is nearby and offers reservable sites. This is primarily a day-use facility, so plan accordingly.
