The Yampa River State Park boat ramp provides access to a scenic, class II-III whitewater stretch of the Yampa River near Hayden, Colorado. The Yampa is a major river system, flowing over 240 miles with an average gradient of 11.4 feet per mile and an average flow rate over 2,300 cubic feet per second. This section is suitable for kayaks, canoes, and small motorized boats.
The improved boat ramp area includes vault toilets, parking, picnic tables, and fire rings, making it a convenient launching point. Boaters should be aware that the Yampa River flows through private property for much of this reach, so access is limited to the float season. The nearest takeout is 17 miles downstream at Moffat County Road 19. For paddlers and anglers looking to experience the scenic Yampa River, this state park access provides a well-developed put-in option.
