About This Access Site
Yampa River State Park provides boat access to the Yampa River, a major waterway in northwestern Colorado near Craig. This is a significant river system with a drainage area of nearly 8000 square miles and an average flow of over 2300 cubic feet per second. The river maintains a consistent gradient of 11.4 feet per mile with average velocities around 4.2 feet per second, making it suitable for various boating activities. The Yampa River originates in the mountains at over 7800 feet elevation and descends significantly as it flows toward its confluence with the Green River, traveling across diverse terrain in Moffat County and surrounding areas.
