About This Access Site
The Yampa River State Park boat ramp provides easy access to paddle or boat the scenic Yampa River near Maybell, Colorado. This major river system has a total length of 242 miles and drains an area of nearly 8,000 square miles, with an average flow of over 2,300 cubic feet per second. The river gradient averages 11 feet per mile, making it a popular destination for kayakers, canoeists, and motor boaters.

The boat ramp at the state park is located approximately 3.5 miles from the Loudy Simpson Park access point. This improved boat launch area includes vault toilets, parking, picnic sites, and fire rings, allowing paddlers and boaters to comfortably stage their trips. Those continuing downstream will find additional public access points along the river, though much of the surrounding land is private property. Boaters accessing Deerlodge Park, part of Dinosaur National Monument, will need to obtain a permit before floating that section.

Whether you're planning a relaxing float or an adventurous multi-day journey, the Yampa River State Park boat ramp offers a convenient starting point to explore this beautiful and dynamic waterway in northwest Colorado.
