About This Access Site
This boat ramp provides access to the Yellow River, a large river (Stream Order 7) with substantial flow averaging nearly 3,000 cubic feet per second. The access point is located at 3375 Gaslyn Creek Road in the Town of Rusk and is designated for **canoe and small boat use only**, with limited parking available. Given the river's significant volume and moderate gradient (3.4 ft/mile average), this section is suitable for intermediate paddlers and motorboats rather than beginners.

The Yellow River offers diverse paddling opportunities in this region. From this access point, paddlers can reach Lake Wissota and the Chippewa River confluence approximately 5.8 miles downstream, passing scenic features including islands, bluffs, sandbanks, and granite cliffs. Note that one Class 2 rapid chute exists along this route. Nearby Yellow River Flowage, an 85-acre lake upstream, provides an alternative access point via public boat landing and is popular for fishing (Musky, Pike, Northern, Walleye, and Panfish). For additional amenities, other public ramps with facilities are available at nearby locations, including a well-maintained ramp at the intersection of 32nd Street and 16th Avenue (part of Buckhorn State Park, requiring a park sticker).
