About This Access Site
York Furnace is a boat ramp and access point located in Airville where Furnace Road meets Indian Steps Road along the Susquehanna River in southern York County. This site serves as part of the 53-mile Susquehanna River Water Trail – Lower Section, managed by Susquehanna Heritage. The access area includes an interpretive panel highlighting the river's history and physical characteristics, making it a good spot to learn about the region's heritage while accessing the water.

The ramp has a slightly steep entrance, and Furnace Road's winding approach should be noted when planning vehicle access. Paddlers and boaters using this site should check current conditions through the Lower Susquehanna River Hotline at 1-844-430-FLOW (3569) or contact Brookfield Renewable at Inquiries.PA@brookfieldrenewable.com, as water levels and conditions can vary. The site offers scenic river views and is a convenient launch point for exploring this section of the Susquehanna River by kayak, canoe, or motorboat.
