Young's Bay Yacht Club

Located in Astoria near the mouth of the Youngs River, this boat ramp provides access to Young's Bay and the lower Columbia River system. The facility features a boat ramp alongside a dock, both managed by the Astoria Parks Maintenance headquarters. This is a working waterway where you'll share the space with the local gillnet fishing fleet and their mooring docks.

**Tidal Considerations:** This is an important access point to understand before launching. At low tide, both the ramp and dock become stranded in mud, making them unusable for launching directly. However, paddlers can carry their boats from the ramp out to the moorage docks, where water is available at any tide—making this a viable option for kayakers and canoeists regardless of tidal conditions. Plan your visit accordingly and be prepared to portage if launching at low tide.

The location offers proximity to significant recreation areas, including Lewis and Clark National Historical Park and the Lewis and Clark National Wildlife Refuge, which encompasses islands and stretches over 27 miles of the Columbia River. This makes Young's Bay an excellent starting point for exploring the historic lower Columbia region.
