The Zabel Road access site provides public boat ramp and carry-in access to Rice Lake in Barron County, Wisconsin. Located at the Red Cedar River connection to Rice Lake, this site offers a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats exploring the area.
Rice Lake supports a healthy fishery including panfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, and walleye, making it popular for anglers as well as recreational paddlers. Note that the lake has low water clarity. As a publicly-owned DNR access site, it provides a good entry point for exploring both the lake and the Red Cedar River system. Paddlers planning trips in the area should contact the Wisconsin DNR or local Barron County resources for current conditions, access hours, and any applicable fees or permits.
