The Zumbro Falls access point provides convenient boat launch facilities on the Zumbro River in Wabasha County. The main launch is located at Walking Bridge City Park in Mazeppa, 3 blocks north of Highway 60 at the Maple Street Bridge. An alternate carry-in access is available downstream on the left bank at Herbert Vik off 1st Avenue, just above the water treatment plant. The site accommodates various watercraft including kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats, with ADA-accessible facilities for visitor convenience.
The takeout point is at the well-maintained Lake Zumbro County Park, which features a dedicated canoe/kayak dock with a convenient roller ramp—ideal for paddlers who want to remain seated while exiting the water. The park also offers fishing piers, picnic areas, and parking. Note that paddlers should be aware of a significant hazard: a 30-foot-high dam is located downstream that requires an 80-yard portage. For shuttle services and additional information about river conditions, contact the local outfitter at 61772 Highway 63, Zumbro Falls, MN 55991 (507-753-2568).
