Description
The Ruby Fork is a wilderness commitment in canyons and somewhat open country.  The river will with 100% certainty have wood in rapids, have rapids that can’t be run, creek bed changes can occur at the top from season to season and it will be a hard commitment.  Most people just hike in about a 1/3 to ½ mile from the road crossing to avoid some portages. The river is often bony but don’t get on at raging high flows.  This run is almost 12 miles.  The first half is smaller and tight with some intermittent nice granite formations.  After about 5 miles the Dark Canyon section is much higher in flow and is still wilderness Class IV.  TR 830 follows the river right side of the Dark Canyon.
