The uppermost section of the Ogden river. From the road bridge below the Pineview dam down to above the Alaskan Inn (above the bridge) is a mellower class II-III section. Brush and wood can be an issue.
Below the Alaskan Inn (a possible put in for the Narrows section), the action starts to pick up. At flows around 400 there are a number of class III rapids, with a boulder garden that usually has wood and should be road scouted after each new seasonal high (1.2 miles up from Smokey Bear; park on the right (south), then walk back downstream to bank scout). There is half-river-wide wood on the lower left in there, April 19, 2016.
The parking by the Smokey Bear sign is the takeout for the class 3 Pineview section, and the most common putin for the Narrows section.
The levels on the flow page are:
Below Recommended > 300 > class 3 > 430 > 3+ > 570 > 4- > 1200 > 4 > 1600, have not seen it over 1600 as that is bankful, wood would be moving.
