Run Map
Description
The Eagle River from town of Eagle to Gypsum is a 7.75 mile float. While there are several good put-in options, the most obvious is to launch at the Eagle River Park where the newly completed whitewater park holds play features, a parking lot and bathrooms. The river passes by the Eagle County fairgrounds and winds through the Eagle River valley. One mile into the run Brush Creek enters the Eagle on river left. The remainder of the float is meandering turns over gravel bars and through abandoned oxbows in the river. Sweepers and strainers are primarily cottonwood trees and high water changes the nature of this section considerably. Industry, ranching, aggregate mining and construction do impact the river in this region. The float is near completion once you reach the state wildlife area at Gypsum Ponds. Take out at the bridge at Trail Gulch Road in Gypsum.
