Description
A bypass at a dam in town can provide some class I-II diversion for area paddlers. At some flows, at least one or two fair playspots may develop. Could be a worth a look, if you don't mind the rather industrial setting, with Flambeau River Papers on the West/river-right (and using the hydropower of the main-channel dam), and an (apparent) waste-water treatment plant on the East/river-left. We would also note: This is the terminus of the Tuscobia-Park Falls Trail, one of the state's great Rail Trails (former railroads, repurposed into multi-purpose recreational use). While many rail trails are restricted to non-motorized traffic (bikes and pedestrians), many parts of this trail are open to ATV/UTV traffic (and snowmobiles in winter), and equestrian (horses). There is, therefore, a general disclaimer that "bicycling is not recommended", since the surface is not specifically designed/groomed for that purpose, thus 'off-road' bikes (or any bike with wider tire/tread) would be more suitable.
