Look for a few days of heavy rain and high tide.
The class III-V section is from the Basin Road Bridge into Cope Park. Scout these drops! Wood, mining equipment and old TV sets show up periodically. A wooden flume and Christopher Trail will access the right bank and Basin Road the left side. For a tame but pleasant ride. Put in at Cope Park ride over the spillway and surf the wave near the tideline. 1.5 to 3 are the best levels. You will master your flat spins here. If you swim, don't panic, just stand up and walk out of the feature. At some tide/creek levels a vicious recirculating hole forms here, drive by the wave before putting in to make sure it is forming on the concrete apron (almost always). Last summer this feature was ridable about 50 days!
