Description
Note: The combination of Steep banks and lots of dead red oak trees (thanks to the borer beetle infestation) tend to clog the creek with wood from time to time, so keep look out.
Scenic, fun creek just off I-40 in Russellville.
This is the I-40 special. Some Ozark creekin' with easy access & shuttle in a small gorge a mile from the interstate. Doesn't contain any gnar, but several good fun rapids and a few boofs. Main hazzard is downed wood, it tends to gather and move around so keep your eyes open.
All of the land is private except for the take-out, so please be respectful and preserve this little gem.
Put-in: Take Exit 88 (Pottsville) on I-40 and head up the Mountain (North) for 2.1 miles to the bridge over the creek.
Take-out: Take Exit 88 (Pottsville) on I-40 and head West for 1.1 miles on Hwy 64 on the South side of the Interstate. Turn right (North) on Galla Park Road and follow 1/2 mile to the dam. Park near the top of the boat ramp.
See the description in Bill Herring's Ozark Whitewater. The mileage includes 0.75 miles on the lake.
