Description
This is one of those tidal streams.
Asa Wagner beta'ed:
"According to the _AMC Maine River Guide_, 2nd edition, Dennys Bay has a tidal current of 3 to 5 knots- I am unsure of the tidal speed in the actual rapids. Supposedly there is a large eddy with a large train of three-foot waves on its line. The other part of the rapid (a second channel) has large waves and boils. It is published in the guide as class III in nature. It is important to note that because of the tidal influence of the nearby Bay of Fundy, the tides run over twice the range of the rest of Maine (averaging about 20 feet), and therefore create much more speed and energy per cycle.
