Description
Lat / Longitude data are _very_ approximate. Add to these 21miles on the Selway to the 22 miles on Moose Creek. A permit is required. The run begins on the East Fork, Moose Creek. Access: To access the put-in, head to Powell on Highway 12 mile 163.5 and turn south on Forest Road 111 and then Forest Road 360 over Savage Pass and continuing up to Hoodoo Lake and Elk Summit. From Elk Summit it is an approximately 6 mile hike down trail 486 to the East Fork Moose Creek where the journey starts. Once you complete the trip on Moose Creek you are still in the Bitterroot Wilderness. There is an airstrip on river left where Moose Creek joins the Selway. The standard take-out however is to continue on downstream through the best whitewater on the Selway (assuming you can get a permit). To access the take-out from the Lochsa-Selway confluence at Highway 12 mile 96.9, cross the bridge to head up Selway River Road. The road ends at mile 19 just above Selway Falls that serves as the standard take-out for Selway Trips.
