Description
A short, roadside run in south/central Oregon where there is not much else in the way of whitewater.  The creek runs from snowmelt in the spring. Put in either above or below Deep Creek Falls, and work your way down through many boulder gardens and one large ledge.  The stand out rapids are visible from the road.  The first two are bouldery and run alongside unstable cliffs.  The first is 'Hello', which can be scouted from above the short cliff on river-right using cow paths.  Below Hello the creek bends right and quickly enters 'It's Me' which is easiest to scout from the left bank. The other stand out rapid is a bit further down, and consists of a long bouldery rapid weaving through willow islands that ends in a large sloping ledge.  This ledge is called 'Leda cow', named after the animal that gave the town downstream it's name. The creek is rather blind in places, so scouting as much as possible from the road while doing shuttle, then again from river-level is a good idea.  Willows can make visibility poor, but in 2024 there was always a line through, usually in channels near the right bank.  Once the lines are known, multiple laps become easy and the fun factor goes up.  The take out is just above a diversion, scope it out while setting shuttle.
