Upper section of stout roadside class 5, followed by a 3.5 mile long class 4 run. These sections can be easily split up if desired. Flows (range: 500-5,000 ish) can be estimated from the Spanish Creek Gauge. Indian Creek is typically twice (+ a little change) what Spanish Creek reads, and can be easily assessed from the shuttle. Flows under 1,000 are probably better for a class 4 boater, and the run gets quite quick at higher water. First section is mostly flatwater, followed by a mile-long class V bit that is very continuous and can be easily scouted from the road. This section is quite gnarly, and the rock sieved out, sharp, and unforgiving. If you don't like the look of the class V upstream, put in at Indian Falls, where a short walk through the woods will deliver you to the river. Indian Falls is runnable at most levels, but will become a stout ledge hole at higher water. The mile following Indian Falls is the steepest and most difficult of the lower section, featuring a continuous succession of class 4 rapids. These become one non-stop train of waves and holes at higher water. Once past Dog Rock (a large and distinctive travertine outcrop on river left), the river mostly eases up and is class 3. Watch out for the final rapid, which is a difficult class 4 (or 5 at higher water) that can be easily scouted from the road. Most people will take out above this drop at higher flows, as its a stacked series of 3 very large holes.
