Description
This is a fun run in a touring boat. Given its length, whitewater boats can be rather uncomfy; however, there are several road crossings allowing for trips of many different lengths other than the full ten miles. Water quality is excellent at the beginning and slowly degrades til reaching Boone Lake. Houses and agricultural runoff contribute to the decline in quality. Apparently this stream is one of the BEST fly fishing areas in the Southeast region, so be sure to give anglers plenty of space. They are usually thickest in number at the put-in a for the first few miles downstream. This stream begins as frigid tailwaters from the beautiful and relatively unspoiled South Holston Lake.
