From Deluge on Boater Talk, 3-4-03: "Did this once about ten years ago. Not recommended. Starts out OK but comes to a 150-yard steep section that mainly goes under giant boulders. One or two fairly good steep rapids and then continuous class two until it flattens out. Then you hit the tree section. The river usually goes underground here so there are live trees in the river bed until the takeout (2 miles?) This would be very scary at any higher water. - Howard PS. As you probably know, all these rivers that flow into Great Falls Res. have sinkholes near the end of their run. Not sure how that will affect your study. Good luck-- " More from Deluge: "We put-in on the plateau near Pleasant Hill cemetery and took off in the Valley below at the Rocky River bridge. 8-10 miles downstream Great Falls Lake usually backs up at least to the Hwy 30 bridge. So the confluence with Big Laurel Creek is usually underwater. Great Falls Lake is between 785-805 elevation in drought to high water. "A side note: the take-out to Cane Creek is the Highway 30 Bridge which is downstream of the confluence with Dry Fork?? It always seemed to be lower water here than a few miles higher up near Fall Creek Falls SP even though more minor tribs come in. Unlike other rivers in the area, we never noticed the exact location of the loss of water. Hope this helps."
