Description
A fun class II-III paddle ending at Wagnon Mill, a class III-IV rapid at the takeout. The run drops 80 feet in 2.6 miles. Some long shoals are encountered before reaching Wagnon Mill. Watch for trees as the streambed is narrow and meanders through forests. Put in on river right at Price Mill Road. Take out below Wagnon Mill Road, at the bottom of the rapid on river left and hike back up to the road. It is best to park a 100 yards or so up the hill from the bridge on river left. Wagnon Mill has several drops, starting with a steep 6-8 footer and ends in a wood pile that should be looked at. Scout river left or right. Can be class IV at higher water. There is not a gage yet. Look for 2-3 inches of recent rain and the Apalachee to be on the rise. If the entrance to Wagnon Mill, as viewed from the bridge, looks floatable, the rest of the run is good to go. The gage correlation is experimental as of May 2025.
