Description
If this run ever got paddled before we did it, I'm unaware of it. It's a good example of what you can find locally if you're willing to look.
The put-in involves a few hundred yards of hiking to the water, and the whole run has an exploratory feel to it.
It's small, with a lot of strainer potential, so you need to keep your eyes open. There are one or two places that could approach class 3 if the water got high enough, but is pretty much a small, creeky class 2 run through woods and farms.
This run flows into the tiny community of Glen Gardner, NJ.
To get the the Takeout, drive north on Rt. 31 from Rt. 78. Turn right onto Schoolhouse Rd. when you get to Glen Gardner.
To get to the Put-In, which is in the Miquin Woods County Park. Drive up West Mill Rd. to Wood Glen. Turn left onto Red Mill Rd and then Right onto Newport Rd. The Park entrance will be on the right.
