Chumstick Highway Access Point: Can be used as a take-out if you only want to float the class 1 stretches upstream of this point, or as a put-in if you want to skip the class 1 and get straight to the class 2 upstream of Plain.
Starting from the junction of 207 and the Chumstick Highway (near the headwaters), this access point is about 2.5 miles down the Chumstick Highway, on the north side. There's a green electrical box on the north side of the road, large enough for a tired teenager with mild hypothermia to take a nap on, but that's another story. Park on the shoulder of the highway, and the path down to the river can be guessed at if you are standing at the electrical box. This is NOT a particularly civilized access point, but it is commonly used and (as far as I can tell) perfectly legal.
From the river, this access point is river right. You've been floating along with the Chumstick highway behind a few trees on the right bank, and the access is just before the river takes a left turn away from the road, with a sandy wall on the right bank of the river. The sandy wall is AFTER the access point: the access point is generally obscured by shrubbery and rather difficult to find without the pink tape that is usually tied to the bank shrubs.
There are zero amenities at this access point, so hold it until you get to Plain. Also, there is zero cell coverage for a mile in either direction. So don't unload any passengers who want to cut their float short, after assuring them that they can use their cell to call your parents for a ride, because they will neither forgive you nor let you forget how they had to wait hours for you to finish the rest of the float.
