Description
Five Mile Rapid is a technical Class III stretch with multiple boulder gardens and powerful hydraulics that require precise maneuvering between mid-river rocks and sharp current seams. The primary line runs center-right, avoiding a series of powerful holes on the left side and a potentially sticky recirculating feature near the bottom of the rapid that can trap unwary paddlers. Boat scouting is recommended, and paddlers should be prepared for quick direction changes and the potential for pin hazards in tight spaces between mid-stream boulders.
