Rectilean is a technically demanding Class V rapid characterized by a narrow, constricted channel with powerful hydraulics and sharp rock formations that require precise boat positioning. Paddlers must navigate a series of diagonal waves and a notorious center hole that can easily flip or pin boats, with the recommended line requiring a critical move along the river right to avoid the most dangerous recirculating water.
