Located on the Lower Deschutes River near Maupin, Beavertail Campground offers direct river access via a boat ramp, making it a convenient put-in or take-out point for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters. The campground features individual campsites ($8–$12 per night depending on season) and group sites ($25–$35 per night), each equipped with a fire pit and picnic table. Water is available on-site, and stays are limited to 14 days. Note that the campground is not reservable and lacks ADA accessibility.
**Important for Boaters:** A boater pass is required year-round for all watercraft and floating devices on the Lower Deschutes River. If you're accessing the river below Moody Rapid, a Moody Island Boater Pass is sufficient and available for purchase locally. The campground sits on the scenic Lower Deschutes Wild and Scenic River, part of a 32-mile back country byway with excellent views of rapids and steep canyon walls.
**Directions:** From Maupin, take Bakeoven Road for ¼ mile, then turn left on Deschutes River Road at Maupin City Park. Continue 8.2 miles to Highway 218, then proceed ½ mile and turn left onto the graveled BLM access road. For questions, contact the facility at 541-416-6700.
