Big Falls (East) provides boat ramp access to the Big Fork River in northeastern Minnesota's Koochiching County. This access point serves as one of several launches along the lower 50-mile section of the Big Fork River, which is known for excellent fishing opportunities including smallmouth bass, walleye, northern pike, and muskie. The river valley transitions between pastoral and wild landscapes, offering varied paddling experiences for canoeists and kayakers.
This location is ideal for day trips and multi-day floats, as the lower river section has seven canoe and small boat accesses scattered throughout, allowing paddlers to customize their route based on skill level and available time. The site supports both motorized and non-motorized watercraft. Nearby amenities and services are available in the Big Fork area, including Bigfork Valley Hospital (258 Pine Tree Drive, Bigfork, MN 56628; 218-743-3177) for emergencies.
