About This Access Site
The Blackman Street boat ramp in Clinton provides concrete access to the Wabash River in Vermillion County. This approximately 20-foot-wide concrete ramp is located on the west side of the river, just past the bridge in downtown Clinton. The facility is well-suited for launching motorboats, canoes, and kayaks into this major river system.
For paddlers specifically, note that there are multiple ramps in the immediate area—the second ramp is recommended as the easier exit point for canoes and kayaks. The Wabash River at this location is a substantial waterway flowing from Ohio through Indiana toward the Ohio River confluence. Please observe posted regulations: swimming and fishing are not permitted from boat ramps or docks. The historic downtown Clinton area nearby is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, making this a convenient access point for exploring both the river and the community.
