Dix Dox is a well-developed boat ramp on the Flambeau River near Oxbo in Sawyer County. The landing features a paved ramp with trailer access, a spacious parking area, trailer turnaround, and pit toilets—making it ideal for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. This is an excellent take-out point for paddlers coming downstream, with the last few miles of approach offering Class I and II rapids before reaching the landing.
The area is known for its scenic, predominantly flatwater character surrounded by dense northern hardwood forest and mixed pines. Wildlife viewing is abundant, and the river corridor features numerous grassy and wooded islands. Water levels and current are generally slow in this stretch. The nearby Flambeau River State Forest Headquarters building (accessible upstream via alternate County Highway W access) offers additional amenities including drinking water, restrooms with running water, and heated showers.
**To access:** From Highway 70, turn north onto Harz Road and drive past Oxbo Resort. The landing entrance is marked with a "boat landing" sign. This location works well as both a launch point and take-out for multi-day paddling trips in the area.
