About This Access Site
The East River boat ramp in Guilford, Connecticut provides excellent access to this major waterway for kayakers, canoeists, and small boaters. Situated on the east bank of the East River, the concrete plank ramp offers a convenient launch point to explore the surrounding Connecticut coastline and reach the Long Island Sound.

As a major river system, the East River features a total length of 215.78 miles and a significant drainage area of 18,264 square miles. With an average flow rate of 376.28 cubic feet per second and an average gradient of 48.5 feet per mile, paddlers can expect a fairly swift current and moderate conditions on the water. The ramp is located approximately 2 miles south of Route 1 on Neck Road, providing easy highway access.

Amenities at the East River boat launch include a gravel access road and parking lot, as well as chemical toilets available seasonally. While there are no docks, the concrete ramp allows for straightforward launching and loading of kayaks, canoes, and small trailered boats.
