The Gulf Island Boat Ramp provides access to Gulf Island Pond on the Androscoggin River in Turner. This concrete ramp accommodates both trailered boats and hand-carry watercraft, making it suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorboats. The ramp is located on the southern shore of the pond, offering a convenient launch point for paddling on this larger body of water in southern Maine.
Parking is available at the access site, though conditions can be crowded during peak weekends. Portable toilets are typically available at nearby access points along the Androscoggin. Paddlers should note that if taking out downstream toward the Pejepscot dam, stay to the right side of the river and use the slot in the barrier on the far right to safely navigate the take-out, then haul your boat up over the rocks and grass to your vehicle. This access point works well for both day trips and longer paddling excursions on the pond and river system.
