About This Access Site
The Hamilton Boat Launch provides vehicle-assisted access to the Skagit River via a primitive boat ramp located west of Mount Vernon. This launch is situated on the main stem of the Skagit River, upstream of where the north and south forks converge. The facility features a gravel parking area with capacity for 40+ vehicles and dedicated boat trailer parking, making it suitable for larger parties and trailered watercraft.

To reach the launch from Sedro-Woolley, take WA-20 East for approximately 40 miles. From Hamilton, drive east on SR-20 to Cape Horn Road (at Milepost 78.5), turn right/south onto Cape Horn Road, and continue 0.75 miles to Shangrila Drive where you'll find the parking area on the left. The site includes toilet facilities. This location works well for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboat operators looking to access the Skagit River, though paddlers should be aware that conditions on this section of river can vary seasonally and by water level.
