About This Access Site

Heritage Landing is a popular day-use boat ramp providing access to both the Deschutes and Columbia Rivers near Biggs Junction. The facility offers a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters looking to explore these major waterways in the Columbia River Gorge area. The site is located at the confluence region where these two significant rivers meet, making it an ideal starting point for various paddling and boating adventures.

**Permit Requirements:** If you're planning to paddle or recreate below Moody Rapid on the Deschutes River, you'll need a Moody Island Boater Pass (a per-person permit). However, if you're only accessing the Deschutes River below Moody Rapid, a Deschutes River Boater Pass is not required. Moody Island Boater Pass permits are available for purchase at self-pay kiosks at Heritage Landing. No permit is required if you're accessing the island area directly across from Heritage Landing.

The area provides good day-use amenities for boaters and paddlers. Before launching, confirm current river conditions and any seasonal restrictions, and be aware of the dam structures and lock systems in the nearby Columbia River system.
