Located in the Town of Winter in Sawyer County, Hervas is a primary access point on the North Fork of the Flambeau River, offering paddlers entry to one of Wisconsin's most popular whitewater segments. This landing provides access to FN4, a scenic run featuring several class II+ rapids including the popular Cedar Rapids and Beaver Dam Rapids immediately downstream. Water levels are typically best from early spring through mid-June, when seasonal peak flows make these rapids most enjoyable.
Hervas works well for paddlers of varying skill levels. Novice whitewater paddlers can enjoy the low to medium-hazard rapids found throughout this segment, while experienced paddlers will appreciate the technical challenges of the class II-III sections. The area offers multiple take-out options downstream, including landings at Hines Park (2.6 miles away) and Big Falls Dam (approximately 5 miles further). Alternate access points are available on nearby Flambeau River Road if needed.
