About This Access Site
Located in Finlayson, this boat ramp provides access to the Kettle River in Pine County. The site is open 24 hours and accommodates both trailer launches and carry-in boats, with most ramps capable of handling 12–18 foot vessels. This access point allows paddlers to explore a scenic section of the Kettle River, which is bordered by dense forest of spruce, fir, birch, and pine with notable rocky cliffs along certain sections.

**Paddling Conditions & Safety:** The Kettle River in this area is navigable for small motor boats and canoes, but paddlers should be aware of potential hazards including sandbars, submerged rocks, and logs. The river features Class II rapids in some sections (such as Quarry Rapids downstream), which may be unrunnable during low water when the entire river drops onto sharp boulders. Paddlers should consult current water conditions and the official Kettle River canoe route map before launching. For detailed route planning and portage information, contact the Hinckley Fisheries office or Parks and Trails District Office (218-460-7020).
