Located in Sandstone near Banning State Park, Kettle River #2 is a trailer access point offering convenient launch facilities for boaters and paddlers. The site includes picnic tables and access to several miles of hiking trails, making it a good option for a full day of recreation. Watercraft campsites are available within the park; contact the Parks and Trails District Office (218-460-7020) for reservations and details.
From this access, small motorboats and paddlers can travel downstream toward Big Spring Falls, which sits upstream of the old dam site. Upstream travel is also possible, though paddlers should be aware that the Kettle River contains submerged obstacles including rocks, logs, and sand bars that require careful navigation, particularly at varying water levels. The river features several rapids in this section, including Quarry Rapids (Class II), which may be unrunnable at low water due to sharp boulders. This is a good access point for day trips and overnight paddling adventures within the park system.
