Located near Silver Springs in Churchill County, this boat ramp provides access to Lahontan Reservoir, a major impoundment on the Carson River covering approximately 11,200 acres with 69 miles of shoreline. The reservoir is fed by the natural flow of the Carson River plus diverted water from the Truckee River, creating a substantial water body suitable for various watercraft. Kayakers and canoeists should note that motorized vessels are common on this reservoir, so be prepared to share the water with faster traffic.
The access site is part of the Lahontan State Recreation Area, located about 18 miles west of Fallon and 45 miles northeast of Carson City. Day-use and launch fees apply ($5-$20 depending on vehicle type and launch use), and developed facilities including restrooms and camping are available year-round at nearby Silver Springs Beach #7. Primitive beach camping is also permitted throughout the area. The reservoir offers year-round recreation opportunities with a scenic shoreline and numerous coves for exploration.
