The Lead Mine State Forest access point provides boat launch facilities on the Androscoggin River in Shelburne, NH. This Wildlife Management Area requires a short walk of approximately 550 feet from the parking area through the forest to reach the water. The launch features both stairs and a wooden ramp, accommodating kayaks, canoes, and other small watercraft. This access point is ideal for paddlers looking to explore this section of the Androscoggin River.
For those planning a trip, nearby camping options include Hastings Campground and Barnes Field Campground (both reservable), as well as Wild River Campground, all within 10 miles of the access site. The location in Coos County offers access to a major river corridor in the White Mountains region. Rattle River Shelter is reached by hiking 1.7 miles up the gradual grade of the Rattle River Trail. In addition to the shelter, 3 designated tent sites provide for overflow camping.
