About This Access Site
Manitou City Park offers a convenient ADA-accessible boat ramp and dock facility on the north side of the Manitowoc River in downtown Manitowoc. The site features dedicated auto and boat trailer parking, making it well-suited for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats. This is the uppermost point for motorized boat access on the river, as water conditions become shallow upstream from this location.
The park provides two launch options: use the main boat ramp above the dam for takeouts, or launch downstream of the dam to begin your trip. The 25-acre riverside park includes restroom facilities in a warm-weather building and a sheltered picnic area. Paddlers should note the proximity to the dam when planning their route, and be aware that upstream conditions may present challenges for larger vessels. The site is popular with both paddlers and anglers, and facilities can be reserved for group use.
