About This Access Site
The Old Hatchery Road boat ramp provides public access to the Wind River near its confluence with the Columbia River in Stevenson, Skamania County. This county-managed ramp is located at the mouth of the Wind River and serves as a convenient take-out or put-in point for paddlers and boaters exploring the area. The ramp is non-reservable and free to use. From the ramp, head southeast toward the highway bridge before entering the main Wind River channel, as the immediate area can be shallow.

This access point is ideal for kayakers and canoeists looking to explore the lower Wind River or access the nearby Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. The location also provides opportunities for fishing the lower portions of the Wind River. Several campgrounds are within 10 miles of the site, including Eagle Creek and Wyeth (both reservable), making it convenient for multi-day paddling trips. The Gifford Pinchot National Forest and surrounding area offer scenic paddling and excellent views of the Columbia River Gorge.
