Hart's Location Put In on the Saco River provides access to a large, swift-flowing river in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The Saco River at this location is a significant whitewater stream with an average gradient of 13.6 feet per mile and flows averaging 3,523 cubic feet per second, making it suitable for experienced paddlers. This put-in is located near the headwaters of the Saco River system, which eventually flows 136 miles to the Atlantic Ocean. The river's elevation drop of 1,850 feet across its total length means that conditions at Hart's Location will feature substantial current and active water movement typical of a Stream Order 7 river in a mountainous region.
