About This Access Site
The Ship Creek boat ramp provides access to Ship Creek and the surrounding waterways in Anchorage, Alaska. The 14-foot wide ramp is the only saltwater recreational boat launch in the Anchorage area, making it a popular access point for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats.

Ship Creek is a medium-sized river with a total length of 58.84 miles and an elevation drop of 3,941 feet from source to mouth. The average flow is 0.57 cubic feet per second and the average velocity is 1.13 feet per second, creating a peaceful, navigable waterway well-suited for paddlers. Nearby recreation areas include the Campbell Tract Special Recreation Management Area and Campbell Tract Recreation Area.

Boaters should plan their trips around the tidal schedule, as the ramp becomes unusable outside of the 3 hours before and 3 hours after high tide due to siltation. Tide tables for the Anchorage area can be found on the NOAA website. Facilities at the site include parking for around 40 vehicles and a wheelchair-accessible portable toilet.
